The first community I am apart of is a travel baseball organization. We are located out of Illinois and are very well-known.  Last season our record was over .500 by at least 10 games. We could have been better, but we got off to a shaky start. There are many pros of being on a travel baseball team. The first pro is being able to make many friends and having great social skills. The next skill is very similar to the last one and it is being able to work with others. We were actually reading a paper in class that said one of the biggest problems of getting a job is the inability of workers to work with others. Baseball is a team sport and it is very easy to work with others. The only con I can think of is if someone is mean and acts like a jerk. I always hate those people and just tune them out.

Another community that I am apart of is the school basketball team. We are a small school, but our basketball team is pretty decent. I have fun playing and that is a big pro of being in a community. Being part of a school basketball team is easier than being a part of a travel baseball team because there are no tryouts, at least at our school there are no tryouts. You will also receive all the skills that you would have got from playing travel baseball. Travel is a little community because you travel all around the country.

The last community I am going to mention is the NBA2K17 community. This is a virtual community that runs through the basketball video game NBA2K17. The leader of the community is Ronnie 2K who can be a jerk sometimes. I am not big in the community. I do not have a YouTube channel; but I like to play the game with my friends and also, watch the community of youtubers like LSK and Jesserthelazer.

March Madness

This past week has been feast week in college basketball. Several tournaments have been going on, such as the Maui Jim Maui Invitational, Battle 4 Atlantis, and The DIRECTV Wooden Legacy Tournament to name a few. I watched each of these tournaments and also some regular season games. From watching these tournaments and games, the teams that will make the Final Four, from my point of view, are Kentucky, UCLA, North Carolina, and Duke.

The reason I think Kentucky will make it to the Final Four is because of the talent of their freshmen. They have five top one hundred players which is not a lot, but the players are highly ranked. Malik Monk has been showing his talent. He is averaging 18.7 points a game which is outstanding. He is also shooting 40 percent from the three point arch, which is extremely high for as many threes as he shoots. I think Kentucky will then go on to win the championship game.

UCLA is another team where the freshman will carry them to the Final Four. Their top freshman is Lonzo Ball. Lonzo Ball was the fourth player in the top one hundred and also played for Chino Hills who ended up the number one team in the country at the end of last year. Three players beside Lonzo who are doing well are; Aaron Holiday, T.J. Leaf, and Bryce Alford. I think UCLA will advance to the finals but then lose to Kentucky.

North Carolina is a team with veterans and a lot of experience. They have a tough front court with Isaiah Hicks and Jordy Meeks, and also two shooters in Berry and Jackson. I think North Carolina is experienced, but will fall short and lose in the Final Four.

Duke is a great all-around team. Their only problem is staying healthy. Both of their top recruits have been out the first month. They have been relying on Grayson Allen and Luke Kennard who are both great shooters, but they do not have a great front court. That is where the freshman Jayson Tatum and Harry Giles come in. I think Duke will be an underdog and will lose in the semi-finals.

What am I Thankful For?

I am thankful for a lot of different things. One thing I am grateful for is being able to play on an elite travel baseball team. A lot of kids are talented enough to play travel baseball but their family does not have the money to pay for it. Being on a travel team opens up many opportunities. One example was when I went to the ESPN World Wide of Sports Complex with an all-star team from across the Midwest. If I had not been on a travel team; I would then not be eligible for the trip to the ESPN World Wide of Sports Complex New Year’s Eve Classic. Travel baseball does not just open opportunities for me, it helps me develop as a person. You know I am not the most organized and responsible person. Travel baseball helps me with these tasks. I have to make sure where both of my uniform combinations are at all times. I also have to make sure everything is packed in my baseball bag for the next big travel. I can’t forget anything because it is not just driving back home from down the street, it is a whole hour drive home most of the time.

I am also thankful for the Chicago Cubs finally winning the World Series. The Cubs have been in a 108-year drought of not winning the World Series. But at 12:00 am on November 3, the Cubs won the World Series of Baseball, 8-7 in 12 innings. Ben Zobrist hit a go-ahead double to give the Cubs the lead; and Mike Montgomery closed the game out for the Cubs. I knew it was the year and I was ecstatic.

The thing I am most thankful for is having an awesome and loving family. My family cares for me all the time and even spoils me. They send me to a great school and also allow me to play travel baseball. They are the ones that make the opportunities happen. I wish everyone could have the great family I have.
